at first ride, the course was, well lets just say HARD! one of the hardest i've raced since redline cup of cross a few years ago at soldier hollow. i did the usual warm up, then did a slight pre ride again before the race began. after the race was rolling i kind of settled in and started enjoying the BMX aspect of the course, now the gravel was another thing......OUCH......
ok the breakdown: in the first couple laps i passed my least favorite of racers ghb, s, and a new face for the year g.....so that was nice, and once again as the course looped back on itself i saw them all slip further away...nice. i felt that i rode strong the whole race but was being beat to death by the gravel, or rocks that is. i've got to say to gordie and bruce, you guys keep me in it every week, there's nothing quite like having both announcers encouraging you every lap....then there's all the other folks that i hear screaming, sorry i'm usually too hammered to remember my own name, but you know who you are and you KICK ASS. one set i know is there often is greg and lucy florez, you guys rock...sorry none of that was meant to sound bad....every lick of encouragement is what makes me ride as hard as i do, so thanks.
the after race festivities have become quite fantastic.....there's beer and great racing to watch and cheer for, and also the great folks that hang out and chat it up, this is what racing is supposed to be about, FUN, imagine that.
