thurs...ride to midway via provo canyon

what a great ride, with a great ending.......and not so great of a start...

get all geared up, with a courier bag full of clothes for later that karen is going to drive to midway for me.. head out on my way toward tony & karen's. before i make it to 2700s i hear a pop sound somewhere behind me, then not even 30sec later i hear the exact same noise... i stop and take a look, and sure enough my rear tire isn't looking too good. i see what i would describe as a puncture wound, but a puncture from the inside out....almost like the tube pushed through the casing then through the rubber of the tire....not suprized as i'm not having the best of luck with the specialized mondo tires lately....so turn around and ride toward home.....end up walking from about 1700s, kind of sucked but i did it earlier this week, so whatever.. get home and swap tires out, only to find another prob, the tire i put on doesn't want to seat in the rim...arggggg, so back off the pressure and start seating the bead with my hands, yeah that felt good... after i get everything together i call tony and let him know i'm running a bit late...
ok so get on the road for real this time, i drill it to tony's...get there and chris isn't quite ready to go yet.......ok, don't feel bad about running late anymore.. we get together and roll out... east to 7th, then south to the frontage road, main in lehi, east on 1600n(orem), then to provo canyon. i will admit i wasn't excited about riding this route, but it turned out good. there was only a couple spots where the shoulder wasn't wide.. as we rode up the canyon we mostly had a wide shoulder and room to ride on the left side of the rumble bumps. i was on the front most all of the way, which is what i expected, and am happy to do. we slowed a bit on the hills for chris (he's getting stronger, i can tell). we had a touch of rain, a lot of wind and a stinging (still laughing about that on tony....think you faked it so we could take a break..hahaha) lacy passed us, honked and waved... when we took the left toward midway chris comes to the front and wants to pick up the pace, so ok, sounds good. he pulled for a couple miles then slowed down a bit and i took over..

the ride was great, always good to have some fantastic scenery along the way, deer creek.... we arrived to wasatch park where dinner was being preped for us, was tasty......i was a little off, and some could tell that was the case, but nothing a quick shower and recovery drink couldn't fix... hung out for a while, then packed up lacy's rental car and drove home....had to work the next morning. rolled in after midnight, showered again and off to bed...i was done...

good ride gents....i'd do it again, even do it as a loop, but if we do it one way again we should start a bit earlier and throw in the alpine loop..
