idaho state crit champs in hidden springs

ahhhhhh, what a great day for racing... with one minor exception...

woke up sunday morning, not that great of a night for sleep...don't think it hand anything to do with the sweet hotel hidden between walmart and the freeway, prob because of the adrenaline pumping through me from last night's race...

anyway woke up, kind of pulled it together and jason, robbie and i went to this dive for breakfast.. i was a little concerned with making the race on time as there was a 30min wait to sit down..and our food didn't exactly come out quickly, but the food was good. jason and i ate a few bites and were ready to head out, robbie was just shy of finishing his, guess he was hungry, or racing later in the day...haha

got back to the hotel and got our crap together, then it was off to hidden springs via my mad memory skills, and they just happened to be dead on...

got to hidden springs and hit the reg table....picked up our #'s and signed in...then it was back to the car to get ready...we went on a short warmer upper then back to the course to ride a couple laps...

game on.... got our instructions from the head official then it was go time.. as this was a 4-5 mix race again someone had to attack off the line..it was short lived but still..... on lap 2 or 3 a small break formed of 7 and it stuck with some serious controlling by myself and another.. we kept it organized long enough to get a 30+ time gap on the chase group.... i picked up a prime and was doing my best to ride smart, near the front of the group and not on the front too much... i was playing the chess game in my head quite well.. i toyed with the group a couple times to figure exactly where to go on the last lap.. one of the main threats crashed along with another racer, not to be rude but he kind of deserved it as he would sit in for 3 laps then attack hard and expect people to work with him after they caught back on....

last lap was jockying for position... i was right where i wanted to be, but was not expecting an attack where it happened so i was a little off the pace... i stuck to my plan and attacked with all i had left just before the 4th corner.... i managed to get myself up to 3rd and was an inch away from 2nd..... think i should have won but thems the breaks.. i'll take 3rd... walked away with a check and some cash from the prime...so that covered race entry for the day...nice..

back to the hotel, get cleaned up, packed and head home......this was the grand master plan with the exception that i sort of was zoned out and drove us through pocatello (about an extra hour) instead of the route home.....oh well.....sometimes that's how it goes... made it home, got unpacked....work tomorrow...........yay.
