reco ride and a little tribute

the morning started out a little odd.. i was invited to join a couple X-team mates for a nice little jaunt up emigration canyon to the top of little mtn... i was at their meeting place at 8:30am...i was however the only one there....so i just got underway on my own.. was having a nice mellow ride when nick blows by me and hollers something like "you better get your fat ass moving" uhhh, ok...recovery day for me, so no thanks... not too far off was jess... i turned back to pick up a suspension pump from the side of the road and hooch passed by. i continued up canyon with my new prize at my mellow pace and met up with everyone at the top.....found out that they changed the time and place of meet so i was sol...oh well. the ride down was much more mellow... i was in the front, coasting, the entire time...good ride..

tribute:
ok, so a little over a year ago my grandpa passed away.. i was quite shocked to hear the news as i didn't expect it to be quite as sudden as it was. i was very close to my grandpa, i mean we were attached at the hip (even sneaking sips of his beer when he would set it down) when i was a child and as i grew up we only became closer as time grew on. Here is his obit photo:
i call and stop by to see my grandma about every week, she's great.....although it has become more obvious with time how much she misses him and how much they relied on each other for day to day things. anyway she lives with a mangy cat and has been getting along fine. i stopped by the other day to borrow a staple gun and in the process managed to lock my keys in my car....yeah so i learned how to break into my own car, a very useful task. in the process i stumbled across a couple of neat things:the top 2 were the most interesting to me as they are so simple but so useful....i can see why my grandpa had them even though they are not made in the US (he was a stickler for US made tools), the next thing that looks like an odd screwdriver well is a bastard of sorts. it is a screwdriver that has a split as to hold a flat head screw on the end of it as to get it into a tight place. i've used this tool at a younger age while dismantling and assembling things, to keep me busy, yup i was one of those. the pliers are some of my favorites, these suckers are the best pair of wire strippers/cutters/crimpers i have ever had (i already have a pair and love them)

anyway these tools reminded me of times spent palling around with my grandpa...i asked my grandma if i could have them and she was happy to give them to me. i also found a stapler, brand new in the box and have put it to use hanging insulation.
