itt, miller motor sports park, ride out

today is the ITT out at miller motor sports park... i gotta say the sports park is a great venue. i've raced there before and their facility is top notch! last year's tour did the itt out there as well, and it was great.

as for me i decided to ride out to the event. so i left town ~2.5hrs before we were expected to be on site to help out. i got there a little early, i think i was the first person, tour of utah related, to get on the premises... think the mmsp folks were a little surprised to see me on a bike, in a kit that resembled a tour team and by myself...hahaha no hassles getting through the gate. in fact they even told me where i could go grab a shower before the event started, once again on premesis...sweet.....and i told them i didn't have a towel and they just said, well use paper towels..hahahahaha i did a little, but not much.. got cleaned up, and was still hangin by myself for a little while.. then some began to show up. eventually we got a garage assignment so i put my bike down and started to help set up. got all the guys chillin, made sure everything was going well and took a stroll to see who else was there.. was neat seeing a bunch of top pros up close and personal..

ok back to the race. so as previously mentioned i was nixed as race mechanic, well not really but since there was a paid person on the team, i pretty much refused to do anything...and even more so since i HATE the person who was the paid position.....

chase asked me to talk to him on the radio while he was racing, which i was kind of excited to do, but then found out that db was planning the whole time to be in the follow car with him so i was out, the only reason i would have stayed and helped chase is because he wanted me to, but db had other plans, like 4 sets of wheels in the follow car with them..whatever...chase did well and i think pratt talked him through.

i was super happy to be in the follow vehicle for norm.. norm is super mellow and way strong. robbie drove, norm's mom was riding shotgun, brockbank was in the back with me.. we had a good time....and i didn't even offend norm's mom with my freak out brought on by db's lack of preparation for norm....all that was on db's mind was chase...and that's fine, but he is "team" mechanic not "individual" mechanic.....we could just say the same, notice a pattern developing here: poor planning, leads to emergency state....your a joke!

explanation: i kind of took over making sure our team's racers had what they needed. while doing so norm asked if i could make sure his bike was ready to warm up on at a certain time. sure, i'll pass that right along...so i did and the time was missed....surprise, surprise.....nice one db you fucking dickhead, you had bikes ready for racers that didn't even get on them till 15min before they raced..joke. next: after i confirmed i was in the follow car for norm i started to get things together for him.. first was making sure norm was ok and ready to go, easy done.. then spare bike, nice db...we only have one pair of speedplay pedals which we took off norms road bike and put on his tt bike...i walked over to the cole team and borrowed a pair...got them on. spare wheels were next.. norm's road bike had reynolds wheels on it, db was giving me shit for that...as edge was the team sponsor..this is the funny part: he's bitching at me, but giving me on option otherwise.....once again you fuckhead....he wouldn't provide any other option so i grabbed what i could and went with it... i kept my distance from norm as i didn't want him to see any of my frustrations or anything before his race... the follow crew headed over to the start line and got ready to go....i had a moment, an angry moment, in which robbie, brock and norm's mom saw....i apologized and we were ready to go....did i mention that i HATE db....

norm's rollin, his mom's snapping pics with my digi, robbie's yellin out the window....it was great... norm was kind of all over the bike, he just didn't look like he could get comfy.. he still put in a good time, nicely done norm..

back at the garage, i took the pedals off and returned them to cole... made sure all the racers had everything they needed, then off to the vip booth for some dinner...mmmmm

got a ride home with brock...good, he's mellow and i needed to just relax and not think about any frustrations...

off to bed, early morning tomorrow...queen stage ahead.
