said it with my legs tonight~winner, winner chicken dinner or just maybe a beer

well the day got off to a good start.. got up, got some stuff done around the house...got ready and headed into work.
work had the likes to be a fairly mellow day, casey wasn't there so there was bound to be far less drama than usual. i was pushed to the front bench, which i wasn't happy about, but made the best of it, did a couple builds, had some fun with some customers, chatted with harward...so in all it was good. even had a customer bring in pizza and beer as he was happy to get his bike done.. the day was crazy, and the time flew by...must have been busy since i don't really feel like i got much accomplished that was measurable, but geeze certainly felt like there was always something going on. 4pm hits and i gotta get out of dodge so i can make it home to get ready to hit up dmv. i went to the post office and used the automated shipping system, nice and quick...then to the bank to make a deposit as i have sold a couple things on ksl and i needed to pay some bills. next was getting home.
the trip home was HOT, i was sweating a bunch and i wasn't even riding a bike.. the ride was a bit awkward as i was sitting on jason's cross fork replacement, i'm sure i got some strange looks, but whatever..haha
got home, got my act together and off i went to meet a small group, yes there were actually people there to ride out with this evening so that was fantastic. we all got stopped by a train that seemed to be the longest train of all time, but we still made it to dmv in time to race.
i had a chat with some of the usual folks before the race got underway and told them my game plan and asked for their assistance. all were on board.
game plan: i was going to attack and attack a lot....all they had to do was not chase and let rmcc do all of that... well this isn't how things went but oh well.
how it shook out: there were 2, or so, breaks that had potential but there just wasn't any organization. i was on the front most of the time in the breaks and when the field was together. at some point i sat up with my hands off the bar and that's when cody went... he went hard and put some distance on us, the next lap a rmcc guy went, next lap i went...and no one chased me, kind of odd that no one chases you when you attack from the front... 3-4 laps later i caught the rmcc guy, he sat on my wheel and i rode him into the dirt, so much so that he pulled from the race. 3-4 more laps i caught cody. cody was fading fast and i could see him getting closer and closer each lap. i kept the pace high to get on his wheel, sat there for 1/2 a lap then pulled along side of him and told him i wouldn't help him unless he didn't contest a win from me tonight. pretty good deal since he was cooked and with me there he was gonna hold on for 2nd. i worked it hard for the next 5 laps pulling cody around.. finally we came up the hill and got 3 to go, cody took over at the front for the next 2, then i took the last lap and won the race. first win of the year, first win ever at dmv. it felt fantastic! i was riding super strong, being smart and i finally pulled it together for a victory. my mates were super excited for me as they have been working hard for a win for me for quite some time...was great to see their excitement right in line with my own.

to the field, team mates included: thanks for all of your support tonight. i don't know what went on, but i'm sure a large handful of you did block and not try to chase me down. and zach, thanks for the monster pull when i lapped you, it really gave me the rest i needed to continue on.

we had a nice ride home, got to catch up with cam as he's been racing mtn for the last month or so. he told me he's moving to seattle on saturday...pisses me off as he's a good chap and i enjoy racing with him. he races for a team i don't care for but he does help cancel out the negative things i feel toward that team... utah is gonna loose good level headed racer this weekend, hope he comes out and visits.

moral of tonight's race: prob not a good idea to dq me from a race, see what happens......oh and by the way, where was the guilty party of the said dq???

my prize or should i say my excitement and not being able to find anyone to drink with me allowed me to leave this in the freezer overnight...and i thought this was neat as it was thawing:
